19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his initial championship for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has had a difficult season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.
The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-term coach Cervara.
Currently working with Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's first trophy since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court since that period of 2023.
The win also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 victories at twenty-one different competitions.
"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to win a trophy is particularly special," said tennis professional Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his last six finals, comprising in that event earlier this year.
His retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on court had caused observers to question if his capacity to compete at the elite level was concluded.
But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced serve.
He fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five games to take the lead.
The competitors swapped breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to force a decider.
The opponent saved 4 early opportunities in a competitive final set before the champion secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Suitably, the winner clinched the win with a rally at the net area, with his opponent failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
